A Path to Paradise
Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever treads a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him the path to Paradise."
This includes both individual obligations (Fard 'Ayn) like learning how to pray correctly, and communal obligations (Fard Kifayah) like specializing in Islamic law, theology, and history.
